Who this page is written for
If any of the following describes you, this page was written for you:
- You live in Hong Kong or Macau and want circumcision or a vasectomy, but local waiting lists are long and your leave is short
- You live in Malaysia or Singapore and need genital warts treated or an STI screen done, and you want it dealt with in one visit
- You have already decided to go ahead and only need to know whether one trip is enough, how many days off to take, and how follow-up works once you are home
This page sets out the itinerary, entry requirements, what the cost is made up of and how post-operative follow-up works, all up front, so you can work out whether it is feasible without adding us on a messaging app or paying a deposit first.
The two procedures most often arranged
1. Vasectomy
Surgical options
No-scalpel vasectomy: instead of cutting the skin with a blade, a specialised instrument separates the skin so the vas deferens can be reached; laser-assisted technique; sedation anaesthesia given by an anaesthesiologist can be added (charged separately, from NT$10,000).
Anaesthesia and timing
Local anaesthesia, performed as an outpatient procedure, completed and discharged the same day.
Suggested stay: 3 days / 2 nights is enough
Day 1 Arrive in Taiwan → consultation and pre-operative assessment → surgery same day or the next day
Day 2 Rest, return visit to check the wound
Day 3 Depart
Aftercare
Ice the scrotum for the first 24–48 hours and wear supportive underwear; avoid strenuous exercise, lifting and prolonged standing for one week; avoid intercourse and ejaculation for about one week; leave at least one day between surgery and your flight, and check your luggage in rather than carrying it yourself.
Please read this in full: a vasectomy does not make you infertile immediately
After the vas deferens has been divided, sperm remain further along the tract. A semen analysis is needed about three months later, or after roughly 20 further ejaculations, to confirm that no sperm are present; until that is confirmed you must continue to use another form of contraception. You do not need to fly back for that one test — have the semen analysis done at a laboratory where you live, and the report can be reviewed together during your post-operative follow-up.
Risks and limitations
Bleeding and scrotal haematoma, wound infection, sperm granuloma, chronic scrotal pain (post-vasectomy pain syndrome, which may persist in a small number of men) and, very rarely, spontaneous recanalisation of the vas deferens. A vasectomy should be regarded as permanent contraception; reversal is technically possible but fertility cannot be guaranteed. Whether the procedure is suitable for you, and which technique is used, must be decided by the doctor after assessing your individual circumstances.

2. Circumcision
Surgical options
Disposable circumcision stapler, ultra-pulse CO2 laser, conventional circumcision, laser circumcision with preputial fascia plication (done during the same circumcision), and a low colour-mismatch technique performed at the base.
Which one suits you depends on the length of the foreskin, the condition of the frenulum, whether phimosis or recurrent inflammation is also present, and where you would prefer the scar to sit — the doctor explains this after measuring during the pre-operative assessment. It is not a formula.
Anaesthesia and timing
Local anaesthesia (penile nerve block), performed as an outpatient procedure with same-day discharge. Sedation anaesthesia can be chosen instead.
Suggested stay: 4 days / 3 nights is more comfortable
Day 1 Arrive in Taiwan → consultation and pre-operative assessment
Day 2 Surgery
Day 3 Return visit to check the wound and change the dressing
Day 4 Depart
Aftercare
If a stapler is used, the staples start to fall off from about day 10 and are usually all gone within 2–3 weeks, during which there may be slight oozing and a sensation of something foreign. People who live far away or come from overseas usually choose the stapler version with a ring placed under the staples. The ring lowers the chance that healing tissue grows over the staples and that you have to come back to have them removed. After a shower, dry under the ring with a tissue and a hair dryer. If the staples have not all come off on time, do not pull them out yourself — send a photo through LINE. With laser, laser with preputial fascia plication, or the low colour-mismatch technique, the wound is stitched and the stitches are removed on day 14; removal can usually be arranged locally after discussing it with the doctor, and if you cannot stay that long, plan the follow-up with the doctor before surgery; avoid intercourse and masturbation for about four weeks; wear loose clothing and avoid friction from prolonged sitting; flying is permitted.
Risks and limitations
Post-operative swelling (particularly oedema at the frenulum and below the coronal sulcus) may last several weeks; bleeding, wound infection, a difference in scar colour and short-term changes in sensitivity can occur; a small number of men need a second procedure because too much or too little skin was removed. How marked these reactions are varies from person to person, and they are explained in relation to your own anatomy before surgery.

3. Genital warts (mainly for patients travelling from Malaysia and Singapore)
Treatment options: ultra-pulse CO2 laser, cryotherapy (CryoPen) and topical medication.
Said plainly: genital warts recur, and recurrence does not mean the treatment failed
Once the visible lesions are cleared, virus may still be present in skin that looks normal. Recurrence is most likely in the first three months after treatment (US CDC 2021), and several sessions are often needed. Two or three sessions can be arranged within a 30-day stay, but follow-up will still be needed where you live, and screening is also advised for your partner. If your expectation is that one trip will settle this permanently, that expectation does not match the current medical evidence — please say so during the assessment and we will plan the treatment schedule differently.

The five steps
1 Ask on LINE
Message us on LINE describing your situation and the dates you could travel. The doctor first replies with what you need to prepare and the conditions to keep in mind. Which technique suits you is assessed by the doctor when you visit.
2 Confirm the slot
Dates are confirmed against the clinic and operating schedule. You arrange your own travel and accommodation; the clinic does not book them for you, does not work with travel agencies, and neither pays nor receives any referral fee.
3 Arrive and check in
Bring your passport and entry permit to the clinic for your consultation, measurements and pre-operative tests. If the assessment shows that surgery is not appropriate, you will be told so directly and the alternatives explained.
4 Surgery and recovery
Local anaesthesia, discharged the same day. Aftercare instructions and medication are handed over on the day, together with an English-language aftercare sheet.
5 Follow-up and flying home
A return visit before you leave Taiwan to check the wound. After you fly home, send wound photos through LINE for continued follow-up. The clinic currently offers wound-photo review and post-operative health guidance only; it does not provide online consultations or telemedicine.
How many days to allow
| Procedure | Suggested stay | Notes |
| Vasectomy | 3 days / 2 nights | Leave a day between surgery and flying |
| Circumcision | 4 days / 3 nights | Flying is fine afterwards; wear loose clothing |
| Circumcision + vasectomy | 4–5 days | Whether both can be done under one anaesthetic must be assessed by the doctor |
| Genital warts | Depends on the number of lesions | Two or three sessions within 30 days; follow-up still needed at home |
| STI screening / vaccination | 1 day | Some results take several working days and can be sent to you |
These are general guides; the actual number of days is adjusted according to your assessment. If your leave is fixed at a certain number of days, tell us when you ask on LINE — we will first check whether the days are enough, so you do not fly here only to find the schedule does not fit.
Entry and preparation
Hong Kong and Macau residents
If you hold a HKSAR / Macao SAR passport or a BNO passport valid for more than three months and hold no other foreign passport, you may use the National Immigration Agency's online application for a temporary entry permit: free of charge, with no documents or photographs to upload. Once approved, you download and print the consent form and arrival card yourself. It allows one entry within three months of approval, for a stay of 30 days that cannot be extended. If you do not qualify, or need to stay longer than 30 days, apply instead for the online (cloud) entry permit, which takes several working days — please allow time for it.
Malaysia and Singapore
Visa-free entry, 30-day stay.
What the clinic does not do
The clinic does not apply for entry permits or visas on your behalf and does not issue invitation letters. Taiwan's medical stay visa applies only to hospitals recognised by the Ministry of Health and Welfare; clinics are not on that list. Entry eligibility and rules follow the latest announcements of the National Immigration Agency and the Bureau of Consular Affairs — please check them again yourself before you travel.
Before you set off, please prepare
Your passport and entry permit; a list of any regular medication and a record of drug allergies; if you have had related tests or surgery before, bring the reports or send us photographs of them in advance.

Fees and payment
What the cost is made up of (itemised in full at the assessment)
Consultation and pre-operative tests, the surgical fee (for circumcision, this includes local anaesthesia and the stapler device), other consumables, anaesthesia (charged separately if you choose sedation, from NT$10,000), post-operative medication, return visits and dressing changes, and an English medical certificate and receipt (administrative fee).
How to pay
New Taiwan dollars in cash, or a physical credit card issued in Taiwan. Credit cards issued outside Taiwan cannot be used; for any other way of paying, ask us on LINE before you travel.
English medical certificate and receipt
If you need these documents, the clinic can issue an English medical certificate and receipt in line with Taiwan's regulations.
The actual fee depends on the technique and your individual circumstances, and is confirmed after the outpatient assessment.
Follow-up after you fly home
- Send wound photos through LINE; the clinical team reviews them and replies with care advice
- Aftercare and medication instructions are provided in English, so you can show them to a doctor where you live
- If something arises after you get home, we will help you judge whether you need to be seen locally, and provide an English summary you can hand to the doctor there
Other things that can be arranged on the same trip
Overseas patients often deal with other urological matters during the same assessment. Whether they can be done on one trip, and whether they would affect each other's recovery, depends on how compatible the procedures are and on your individual circumstances; the doctor explains this at the assessment.
- Urinary stones and investigation of blood in the urine
- Sexually transmitted infection screening and HPV vaccination
- Male fertility and semen analysis
- Male hormone assessment
- Intimate reconstruction and appearance-related consultations
Frequently asked questions
Q Can I be assessed and operated on the same day?
A It depends on the procedure and the assessment. A vasectomy can usually be arranged the same day; for circumcision, the stapler, laser, and laser with preputial fascia plication can be done on the day of your consultation, while sedation or the low colour-mismatch technique needs a separate surgery day. If you want to think it over after the assessment, that is fine; you do not have to decide on the same day. Before you travel, the doctor first replies on LINE with what you need to prepare and the conditions to keep in mind; which technique suits you is assessed when you visit.
Q Which doctor performs the surgery? Can I choose?
A Surgery is performed by Dr. Chao-An Chen or Dr. Kai-Wu Yang. Both are certified urology specialists, and you can choose either one; just say so when you message us on LINE. Once you have sent your travel dates and how many days you can stay, a doctor replies on LINE about your trip arrangements.
Q How soon after surgery can I fly?
A You can fly after a circumcision; wear loose clothing and avoid friction from prolonged sitting. After a vasectomy, leave at least one day before flying and check your luggage in, so that lifting does not cause a haematoma.
Q Can I stop using contraception once I have had a vasectomy?
A No. A semen analysis is needed about three months later, or after roughly 20 further ejaculations, and until it confirms that no sperm are present you must continue to use another form of contraception. That step can be done where you live.
Q What if there is a problem with the wound after I get home?
A Send photos through LINE; the clinical team reviews them and replies with advice, and can provide an English summary for you to give to a doctor locally. The clinic currently offers wound-photo review and post-operative health guidance only; it does not provide online consultations or telemedicine.
Q Can you issue an English medical certificate and receipt?
A Yes. The clinic can issue an English medical certificate and receipt in line with Taiwan's regulations. Just tell the doctor during your visit.
Q Can I arrange something else on the same trip besides circumcision and vasectomy?
A Yes, but it depends on whether the procedures are compatible and whether the recovery periods clash. Mention everything you would like dealt with when you ask on LINE, and the doctor will first explain which can usually be done on one trip, which are better staged, and which are better not combined.
Q Will you help with the entry permit, hotel booking or itinerary?
A No. The clinic does not apply for documents on your behalf, does not book accommodation, does not work with travel agencies or permit agents, and neither receives nor pays any referral fee. This is what Taiwan's Medical Care Act requires, and it is how we work.
Q What languages can we communicate in?
A Written messages in Traditional Chinese or English; in person, Mandarin or English. Written material (aftercare instructions, medical certificate, receipt) can be provided in English. The clinic does not currently have Cantonese-speaking staff, so if Cantonese is your only comfortable language, written messages are the better route.
Booking and contact
